Help keep reusable items out of the landfill by participating in Textile Collection Week.

How to Participate

  1. Confirm your textile collection day (it’s a different day than your regular collection day for organics, recycling and garbage). See the collection schedule below and visit recyclingrewards.com/barrie for a map.
  2. Place your items in a bag (preferably a clear bag, but if you don’t have a clear bag, you can use any type of waterproof plastic bag) and put a label on the bag that says “textiles”. There is no limit to the number of bags you can donate.
  3. Put your items out on the curb on your textile collection day by 7am, rain or shine. The bags will be picked up by Recycling Rewards trucks before 5pm on your textile collection day.

If your materials are placed curbside on your Textile Collection Day, but not collected by 5pm, please contact Recycling Rewards at fleet@recyclingrewards.com or leave a voicemail at 1-866-927-3873 to report a missed collection.

Visit recyclingrewards.com/barrie or for the full list of acceptable items, or if you have questions.

If you live in an apartment or condominium, or if your property is in the downtown BIA, please contact Recycling Rewards at 1-866-927-3873 or fleet@recyclingrewards.com to arrange individual pickup. View the map of collection areas to determine if your property is in the downtown BIA or view alternative textile disposal options

About Textile Collection & Bins

Textile Collection Week is offered to Barrie residents outside of the City’s curbside collection contract and is delivered in partnership with Recycling Rewards to support community-based recovery efforts and reduce landfill waste.

Donations support Cornerstone to Recovery, a non-profit, charitable agency that provides community-based recovery programs for individuals and families experiencing and impacted by addiction.

Barrie has two curbside textile collections per year, in the spring and fall. There are also four textile bins at facilities across Barrie that accept textile donations year-round:

Refer to reusable clothing & textiles for more information on textile bins.

Did you know?  In 2025, Recycling Rewards trucks collected 16.83 tonnes of material from Barrie homes through the curbside textile collection program in May and October.
