City of Barrie Mobile App

The official mobile app for the City of Barrie offers convenient access to services and popular information. The app received a 2022 Gold MarCom Award in the Digital Media – Mobile App/Web category. 

Did you know?  The City’s app is featured in the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario’s Transparency Showcase. The showcase puts a spotlight on projects that support government transparency, promote civic engagement, and demonstrate the positive impact that open data can have on the day to day lives of Ontarians. 

The City of Barrie app is available for download from the App Store and Google Play, and provides access to services and information including:

  • News & events
  • Road closures & roadwork 
  • Winter operations
  • Council & committees
  • Garbage & recycling
    including a customised curbside collection calendar when you look up your address
  • Transit & parking
  • City job listings & other employment resources
  • Parks & recreation
  • Maps
  • and much more!

In addition, you can report a problem directly to the City and opt in to receive timely and personalised notifications by setting your notification preferences.

How to Set Notification Preferences

Upon download, app users are prompted to complete a questionnaire and can opt in to general notifications, curbside collection notifications, and/or ward notifications.

You can update your notification preferences at any time. Simply click on the grey Notifications (bell) icon on the app's home screen to 🔔 set your preferences. Lookup tools for curbside collection and wards are also available in the notifications tab.

The app is hosted by 14 Oranges. All content is maintained by Marketing & Communications staff.
